Super GT Okayama and Nissan DeltaWing
It was a busy last week. After the last Okayama Test I took a night flight to L.A. and from there another night flight to Miami. Arriving in the morning in Sebring, I was very excited to get my first laps in the Nissan DeltaWing car. I was too excited to feel tired actually. I didn't know what to really expect, but when I left the pits the first time and turned into the first corner, I couldn't believe how sharp and responsive the car (or should I say Batmobile) reacted. To all those that always doubted that it would turn, I can just say, I have never driven anything before that turns that much! That was a very nice surprise and made me ever more curious of how it will handle in other areas.
With the weight more than 70% to the rear, the traction is also extraordinary good! So after a couple of laps I could already tell that Nissan is onto something with big potential here. Of course now we have to sort out lots of small issues, something that is completely normal for a new development, conventional car or others.
I'm now very much looking forward to the testing program in Europe before our big race in Le Mans.
After the test I went back to Miami to see Kimiko for a very short time, which was nice as she was playing the tournament there. But I had to rush back to Japan for another test in another car. That was an exciting 7 days with testing 3 different cars on two continents. Life as a Racing Driver can be great in times like these, but on the other hand, my body didn't really know which jetlag it should go with, as I also just flew to London the week before for the Nissan DeltaWing launch.
But the good news is that I had a week to recover, and now I'm on the way to Okayama for the first round of this years Super GT Championship and I can't wait to get going. The Nissan GTR is a great pleasure to drive and after all that testing, its about time we start Racing. In the end that's where the biggest fun is. Its forcasted rain for qualifying tomorrow, but Sunday should be fine. My teammate Satoshi Motoyama and myself hope to have a successful season opener, but we will obviously only know after qualifying where we really stand. Looking forward to see lots of our Nissan supporters at the circuit on Sunday.

Super GT Okayama and Nissan DeltaWing
先週は忙しい一週間でした。最後の岡山テストが終わって、夜便でL.A.に飛び、そこからまた違う夜便でマイアミまで行きました。マイアミのセブリンク到着は早朝でしたが、Nissan DeltaWingに初運転にはとても興奮しました。本当にエキサイトしすぎて疲れてしまったほどです。実際、何を期待するのかわかりませんでしたが、初めてピットを出て、第一コーナーを回ったとき、そのクルマ（バットモービルというべきかも）のシャープさと手応えはすごい反応で驚きました。ターンをうまくできるかいつも疑ってかかるけど、こんなによくターンするクルマを運転したことはないということは言えます！これはとても良い意味での驚きで、他のエリアではどう扱われるか好奇心を更にそそられました。
70％以上ウェイトはリアで、トランクションもかなり良いです！なので、数周してNissanは大きなポテンシャルを備えていると既にわかりました。新規開発や、従来のクルマや他のものにも通常必要な沢山ある小さな問題を洗い出していかなければならないのはもちろんのことですが。
ル・マンでのビッグレースの前のヨーロッパでのテスト予定を今ではとっても楽しみにしています。
そのテストの後、トーナメントで試合をしているKimikoにほんの少しの間会うためにマイアミに戻りました。でも僕は他のクルマの他のテストがあったので、日本に即戻らなければなりませんでした。2大陸での異なる3車でテストをしたエキサイティングは7日間でした。レーシングドライバーとしての生活はこんな感じでとても素晴らしいときを持てますが、一方では、その前週にNissan DeltaWingの披露でロンドンに行っていたこともあり、僕の身体はどの時差ボケがきているのか本当にわからない感じでした。
でも良いことに、回復に一週間費やせ、今は待ちに待った岡山での今季のSuper GT選手権での開幕戦に向かっている最中です。Nissan GTRを運転するのが素晴らしい楽しみで、全てのテストを終えて、レースを開始するよい頃合いです。結局、最も大きな楽しみがそこにあります。明日の予選は雨の予報ですが、日曜は天気になるようです。チームメイトのSatoshi Motoyamaと僕自身は良い結果でのシーズン開幕になることを願っていますが、予選後に本当にどの位置にいるのか明白に知ることになるでしょう。日曜のサーキットで多くのNissanサポーターの皆さんにお会いできることを楽しみにしています。
